The Ropers
The Ropers is an American sitcom that ran from March 13, 1979 to May 22, 1980 on ABC. The series is a spin-off of Three's Company and based on the British sitcom George and Mildred. The series focused on middle-aged couple Stanley and Helen Roper who were landlords to Jack, Janet, and Chrissy on Three's Company. As was the case during their time on Three's Company, opening credits for The Ropers exist with either Audra Lindley or Norman Fell credited first.
The second season begins with Helen complaining about never getting to take a vacation. To keep her quiet, Stanley prepares a secret disco birthday party with the aide of former tenents, Jack Tripper, Janet Wood, and Chrissy Snow. Janet and Chrissy arrive to teach Stanley how to disco. Janet quickly goes and takes a shower. Meanwhile, Chrissy is showing Stanley how to disco. Unknown to them is that Jeffrey is spying on them. When Janet comes out in a towl, his suspricions seem to be confirmed, and they are that Stanley is cheating on Helen. Also, Jack is put in charge of food and drinks. The party goes off with only one hitch-Helen hasn't arrived from her art class lessons! Stanley than calls the art class, only to find out she hasn't been there all night. As Stanley is trying to figure things out, Helen enters the room looking terrible. A man shows up at the condo and introduces himself as Stanley's son from an affair years ago.
When the electricity to the Roper's house is cut off when Helen's sister is supposed to come for dinner, Stanley ""borrows"" electricity from the Brookes.
Stanley fears that Helen will ignore him if they adopt a child. But when a social worker says they're to old to adopt, he raises her sprits by giving her Muffin, a dog.
Stanley and Jeffrey get drunk and are arrested after both have arguments with their respective spouses.
Stanley loses their dog and buys another one to try to calm Helen down.
On their 23rd wedding anniversary, Stanley buys a fake antique clock which happens to resemble the Brookes clock which was stolen. Helen then tries to sneak into the house to return the clock.
When Ropers' kitchen is accidently set on fire by Mr.Roper, Brookes thinks it's his fault and lets them stay with his family.
When Stanley gets a new (Or So He Tells Helen) living room suite from his friend Joey and gets his old furniture hauled away, he finds out the furniture once belonged to Helen's sister, Ethel
The Brookes and Ropers fight over commision money Helen gets when she sells one of the townhouses to a buyer, the Brookes decide to buy her something--an organ!
Jeffrey's hobo uncle comes for a visit.
Helen creates a phony lover named Roman to make Stanley jealous.
The Ropers find out that a 18 year old girl has been living in their store room for weeks
Stanley pays Brookes' nephew $50 to take Jenny out on a date.
Ethel attempts to retrieve a valuable horse-shaped vase from the Ropers.
The Ropers and Brookes feud on the David and Helen's birthday.
Helen thinks Stanley is cheating on her.
Stanley takes David to a Poker Game while babysitting him
Stanley is jealous when Helen's old boyfriend wants to see her.
Stanley's men's magazines are accidentally donated to a church rummage sale.
When Stanley goes over to his brother-in-law's (Hubert) office to get a job, he finds two tickets for Hubert and his secretary to Acapulco.
Mother Roper holds a wake at the Ropers' house to discuss her will, complete with presents
Helen bugs Stanley into finally looking for a new house. Stanley, however, wants to rent a mobile home. Helen suggests they look at a home in Cheviot Hills. Meanwhile, we see the head of Cheviot Hills (who is responsible for sales), Jeffrey P. Brookes III, step out of his car. We also see his son, David. David and Jeffrey go into their home. Jeffrey is greeted by his wife Anne, who wants to do something with Jeffrey. Jeffrey tells her that they'll do it later. The Ropers arrive. Jeffrey is shocked by them - their car is overheating and it is a mess! Jeffrey at once dislikes them. He takes them over to see the house. Jeffrey takes Helen up to view the bathroom. Stanley stays in the living room. David enters and tells Stanley that if his dad doesn't like him then he won't sell him the house. Stanley, overjoyed, does everything to try to make Jeffrey dislike him. Jeffrey makes Helen and Stanley leave after Stanley tells him about the wild goingons that will be happening in the apartment (

Stanley thinks he's dieing when results from his doctor don't come right away
Helen thinks Stanley needs help and takes him to a marriage conselor after she finds many love letters from him, which turn out were for Doris Day
Stanley gets upset when Helen's mother and sister Ethel visit and thinks that her mother has plans to stay with them-permantley!
Larry visits, and trys to sell them a mobile home. This idea excites Mr.Roper, and the always devious Jeffrey. Stanley almost buys it with out telling Helen
