The Yellow Rose
8.0

The Yellow Rose is an American television series. It was broadcast on the NBC network during the 1983-1984 season. It was produced by Paul Freeman. The series was at least partly inspired by the more coltish elements of the soap opera Dallas, and dealt with the intrigues of the Texas-based ranch-owning Champion family. The show's cast included Sam Elliott, David Soul, Edward Albert, Cybill Shepherd, Chuck Connors, Noah Beery, Jr., Ken Curtis, Robin Wright and Jane Russell. The Yellow Rose was canceled after one season of twenty-two episodes. In the summer of 1990, the series was rerun again on NBC along with the short-lived Bret Maverick starring James Garner.

Seasons & Episodes

Roy Champion leads a family struggle to keep the Yellow Rose ranch from reverting to its original owner, Jeb Hollister, who lost it on a bet to Roy's late father. Chance, a mysterious drifter, signs on as a hand at the ranch and displays more than a casual acquaintance with Colleen Champion and Grace McKenzie. Chance becomes the prime suspect in a drug smuggling operation.

Chance plots a breakout for a friend at the prison rodeo after learning all parole hearings have been frozen due to a prison guard stabbing. While a prisoner, Lenny Hollister comes up with a plot of his own.

After Chance helps his friend Toat Gilmore escape from prison during the prison rodeo, Warden Garrett gives Roy a 24 hour deadline to get Toat back.
