Kintaro Yajima comes to Tokyo and is hired by Yamato Construction Company when he saves the life of the company's CEO. A former leader of a motorcycle gang, Kintaro is known for his highly principled and forthright way of dealing with matters and is never afraid to tell his superiors exactly what he thinks. This has a tendency of irritating some; but when corruption from within the company begins to surface, he may be the only one who can stand up to it.

Kintaro, Ryuta and Masumi visit Kintaro's mother's grave. There, they run into Kintaro's father, who had vanished years ago after being released from prison. Soon, Kintaro becomes the father of a baby girl. He is overjoyed, but when he goes to work, he discovers there's a new company president, and he has received a promotion!

Kintaro finds out that Tonichi Construction had cut corners in the construction of a hotel built before the merger with Yamato. Now, Yamato must take the responsibility for making any required corrections. Kintaro is fired when he insists on taking an inspection team in.

The decision is made for Yamato to make the necessary corrections to the hotel structure. Kintaro works on the site as a laborer. Yamato stock values drop. One day Kintaro receives the shocking news that President Maruyama has committed suicide.

Maruyama has left a note strongly recommending Yajima Kintaro be promoted to president of Yamato! Meanwhile, Masumi discovers that Kintaro has been visiting Fuyumi at her bar, and she walks out on him.

Ryunosuke informs Kintaro that the late president, Maruyama, had recommended him for the next president and he awaits Kintaro's decision. Finally home, Kintaro cautiously enters the door and receives an enthusiastic welcome from Ryuta.

Masumi leaves home again, and this time, she asks Fuyumi to look after Kintaro! Kintaro is perplexed, but Ryuta loves his new friend. One day, Kintaro gets a visit from Osuga, who offers to help Yamato in their bid to get proper permits for a big new project.

Masumi returns home and their peaceful family life returns. Meanwhile, Osuga begins his attack on the credibility of Yamato after a man claiming to have killed the chairman of Hirao Construction surrenders to the police.

After Yamato makes an announcement that it is cutting all ties with yakuza and politicians, its site office is attacked. Yamato is now completely isolated and Takatsukasa's Aqualine project is their last hope.

Yamato's shareholders' meeting will be held soon. While checking out the site, Kintaro gets shot at by someone. Meanwhile, Takatsukasa notices that the residents opposed to the Aqualine project seem to have grown nastier.

In the ambulance, after being shot, CEO Yamato insists on being taken to the stockholders' meeting. At a press conference prior to the meeting, he admits that Yamato Inc. had previously had links to the yakuza and takes full responsibility. To the stockholders, He announces that all of the members of the board will resign as of this day, and the company will be turned over to the young staff. After the meeting, Kintaro tries to get Yamato to go to the hospital, but he refuses and goes to his office instead...

Kintaro falls into a great depression after the death of his friend and mentor, Ryunosuke Yamato. Meanwhile, his life is being threatened by hired killer, Otake, but Kintaro's father, Teruo, thwarts the killers attempt on his life. Then, newly promoted president Takatsukasa receives a letter of resignation from Kintaro. One day, Kayo brings Kintaro a letter written by the late CEO.

Kintaro's son Ryuta is now in the first grade, and Kintaro has received a promotion. When CEO Yamato orders him to train the new hires, Kintaro begins a most unusual orientation course. One day, Kintaro learns that former co-worker Yoko has been hospitalized after being injured by a group of protesters at a construction site.

Kintaro and the others now work for a little venture capital firm, Yamato, Inc. A Chinese man whom he had once saved from thugs approaches Kintaro. Lin wants to give Kintaro some business, in gratitude.

Kintaro tries his best to help Lin out in his bid to build a chain of restaurants, but the Chinese mafia hampers him. Kintaro's co-workers try to talk him out of helping Lin, but Kintaro isn't about to give up.

A wealthy landowner requests plans to be drawn up for a five-billion-yen job. It sounds like a great job, but he gives them only three days in which to complete the design. Everyone's ready to throw in the towel...

Kintaro has two huge jobs in progress. When it comes time to decide on whom to contract to do the construction, his boss suggests going with Heisei Construction. By using them, Yamato throws a wrench into Heisei's plans to let their former Yamato Construction people go.

Sparks fly when Kintaro and Yamato Inc. come up against Heisei Construction over a multimillion-dollar redevelopment project. The outcome of the upcoming mayoral race will decide their fates.

As the mayoral race heats up, a band of motorcycle thugs posing as Kintaro and his friends shows up on street corners causing chaos, and blackening Kintaro's good name.

After a hard-fought election campaign, the candidate backed by Yamato Inc. loses. The loss can only be attributed to the dirty tricks used by the opposition. Kintaro goes after the men responsible.

Kayo suffers a stroke and must soon undergo intensive physical therapy. Meanwhile, Yamato offers to contract Heisei Construction to work on the redevelopment project, but they are turned down!

When the love triangle between Kintaro, Yoko and Masumi becomes uncomfortable, he tells them that there is another to whom he's promised his heart. Meanwhile, Kayo introduces Kintaro to a man who has plans to build a senior residence.

When the Construction Bureau orders Yamato, Inc. to stop the redevelopment project, Yoko and her colleagues look for proof of conspiracy between Heisei Construction and the Bureau.

Takatsukasa is missing, and Kintaro has a hunch that he is in grave danger. The key to his disappearance may be hidden in a highly protected CD. Will Maeda crack the code time?

Kintaro comes to town with his son Ryuta to begin working at a construction company. They move in with Kayo, who's rumored to be the CEO's mistress. When Kintaro takes Ryutaro to his nursery school, he's shocked to meet Hitomi, who's the spitting image of his late wife. The first payday, he's invited out for a drink where they're accosted by a yakuza.

Depressed by his seemingly imminent ouster initiated by Oshima, Ryunosuke calls his friends and loved ones together for a party at a hotel. There, Kintaro runs into an old buddy from his motorcycle gang days. Toru and his transvestite friends join the party and relate tales of Kintaro’s wild days.

It's nearly time for the Board of Directors' meeting, but Maeda hasn't been able to find the computer password that will unlock Oshima's nefarious schemes. Masumi sends Ryunosuke a magazine article reporting on a scandal involving Oshima. Meanwhile, Kintaro is "called out" by a punk at his office.

Kintaro is assigned to the Sales Department. Section Chief Tanaka takes him around to meet all their important clients. One day, CEO Ryunosuke introduces him to the father of a young man Kintaro had helped in the past. Takao wants to show his appreciation by allowing Kintaro to draw up the estimates for his supermarket.

Ryunosuke orders Kintaro to supervise at a construction site. The work there has fallen 2 months behind schedule. The foreman refuses to resume work until he's paid in full. However, he’s already been paid the construction cost. It is later learned that Oshima had promised to fork over another 200 million yen!

Kintaro has his hands full working on plans for an apparel firm's new building. Meanwhile, Maeda is depressed because his work isn't going well. Misuzu and Hitomi call on Kintaro at home, but they're left to twiddle their thumbs when Kintaro realizes that it's Ryuta's birthday, and he rushes off to Akemi's gravesite.

Kintaro's plans for a multi-level pachinko parlor-shopping center is a hit with his superiors. However, when he takes them to Amagasaki, president of the pachinko parlor chain, he is given the cold shoulder. It seems Ryuta and Amagasaki's grandson have been at odds at school.

Kintaro is called in by the head of a yakuza organization and warned to give up his plans for off-track betting. When Kintaro refuses to budge, he's given a week in which to get permission from the Horse Racing Association. If he fails, he'll lose his life!

When Kintaro and Tanaka make a sales call on a client planning a new construction project, they're told that their bid is not welcome. It seems that someone with a grudge against Yamato Construction has been spreading rumors that the company is in financial straits.

Kintaro gets wind of Takashi and Oshima's plot to take over Yamato Construction, but they can find no proof. One day, Kintaro is attacked by three men on his way home. The attack was engineered by Shuhei to test Kintaro. Shuhei wants to lure Kintaro away from Yamato.

CEO Yamato needs Kayo's help desperately, but she's been kidnapped by Shuhei, who's in cahoots with Takashi. Kintaro is finally able to rescue her, but can he get her to the board meeting in time to save Yamato?

Kintaro Yajima returns from a dangerous assignment in the Middle East and discovers that the huge construction project that he oversaw in Nabilia was destroyed due to the breakout of a civil war. While all the women are overjoyed with Kintaro's return, he is not welcomed back in the corporate fold. Rather, he is demoted to a subsidiary company and put in charge of labor relations. On top of that, Kintaro becomes the target of assassins sent by the prince of Nabilia. That Kintaro... he's charismatic, he's passionate and he's always in hot water. So how's he going to get out of this one?
