Gary Sparrow is an ordinary bloke in 1990s Britain, married to the ambitious Yvonne and working as a TV repairman. Then his whole world changes when he stumbles upon a portal to WWII-era London and begins a dual life as an accidental time traveler.

Whilst advancing through the time warp a severe storm in 1944 causes Gary to split into two opposing clones: a normal Gary and a bad version. Phoebe likes the former, while Yvonne prefers latter.

All About Yvonne

Gary and Yvonne have a bust up which ends with Gary having to move out and into Ron's place. During Gary's estrangement he becomes suspicious of Yvonne's interior designer. Meanwhile over in 1944, Phoebe suspects that Gary is having an affair with Yvonne, and Reg contracts impetigo.

California Dreamin'

Gary has to think fast when both of his wives decide they want to emigrate to California. In 1944 Reg retires from his job, but no one turns up at his leaving do.

Grief Encounter

Gary and Phoebe are cast in Noel's film Brief Encounter, but Gary declines. Meanwhile, both Phoebe and Yvonne catch the attentions of other men, which Gary resents and intercepts.

The 'Ouses in Between

A foggy night in London leads Gary into the unknown time territory of 1880. Here Gary comes face to face with the notorious Jack the Ripper, who manages to access the time portal.

Just in Time

When a workman arrives to carryout repairs in the time portal alleyway, Gary begins to contemplate where his future lies.

How I Won the War

Gary thinks that Yvonne is having an affair, so he asks Ron to spy on her for him. Plus, Gary and Phoebe join a concert troupe in Belgium, but their efforts are quickly thwarted.

Something Fishie

Gary and Phoebe come up against the bully tactics of a protection racket, so Gary utilises his modern gadgets to halt their reign of terror. Plus, Yvonne receives a rude surprise.

Gary must ensure that a compromising photo taken of him in the 1940s avoids discovery in the present. Yvonne goes to see Noel Coward's Gary and Phoebe stage play.

Accentuate the Positive

It's1945 and VE Day celebrations are in full swing. Future Prime Minister Clement Attlee is in town to join in with the festivities. Gary finds himself rushing to Attlee's aid when disaster strikes.

A Room with a View

Gary and his son Michael are blasted into present time by a 1944 air raid bomb. They are caught by Yvonne, who demands an explanation regarding the child's identity.

London Pride

In the present and wartime 1944, both Gary and Phoebe find themselves being refused entry into higher society circles.

When Two Worlds Collide

The detonation of an unexploded bomb in Duckett's Passage catapults Gary into the present, with Phoebe in tow. Consequently Phoebe and Yvonne meet for the first time.

Mairzy Doats

Gary tries to persuade Ron to give up his time travelling ambitions, and Yvonne begins some consultancy work for Chelsea FC, which Gary is pleased to hear, especially when she acquires some match tickets.

Pennies from Heaven

Gary tries using his knowledge of the past to bet on certainties at the 1940s race track, but it all goes wrong. Meanwhile Ron's white fiver printing press is raided by the police.

We Don't Want to Lose You ... (1)

Gary's assumed identity as a secret agent even fools the 1944 authorities. He is recruited by a genuine M15 agent to go on a secret mission to the Isle of Wight.

... But We Think You Have to Go (2)

Gary's secret mission in wartime France quickly descends into a dicey fight or flight situation, as the German's rapidly close in on him.

Have You Ever Seen a Dream Walking ...

As the strain of living a double life takes its toll on Gary, Rolf Harris appears in a dream and berates him for having claimed the authorship of 'Two Little Boys.'

Love the One You're With

The porter of Gary's Mayfair flats informs him that a former resident died in a road accident 55 years ago. Gary aims to travel back in time to reverse the chain of events.

My Heart Belongs to Daddy

Gary encounters his 1940s now-adult son Michael, who is shabbily dressed and trying to flog him items. Gary returns to the past to try and improve Michael's future prospects.

You're Driving Me Crazy

The pressure is definitely mounting for Gary now that both Yvonne and Phoebe are pregnant. Yvonne is trying to get him a job in her firm so that she can give up work after the birth. Meanwhile, in 1942 Gary is accused of being a fence.

In the Mood

Both Yvonne and Phoebe are pregnant and feeling unwell. Yet Yvonne and Gary agree to babysit Gary's nephew, Arthur, who goes missing during his visit and is suspected of having time travelled to 1942. So Gary might not be the only one that can access the time portal after all.

Out of Town

Yvonne is out of town so Gary hopes to spend some time with Phoebe, but Gary's father George turns up and stuns him when telling a story about discovering a time warp in his youth.

Ron is in trouble with the police, while Phoebe tells Gary that they are finally free to marry.

Gary and Phoebe visit wartime Liverpool, where Gary meets his hero grandfather, Albert. However things become very complicated when Gary is forced to play hero.

Yvonne has a miscarriage and Reg's mistress leaves her husband, who mistakes Gary for Reg.
