Chilly Willy is a cartoon character, a diminutive penguin. He was created by director Paul Smith for the Walter Lantz studio in 1953, and developed further by Tex Avery in the two subsequent films following Smith's debut entry. The character soon became the second most popular Lantz/Universal character, behind Woody Woodpecker. Fifty Chilly Willy cartoons were produced between 1953 and 1972.

Chilly Willy makes his debut by trying to get to a hot furnace on a ship, but the same ship is guarded by a dopey dog.

Chilly Willy finds an advertisement for a fur company and decides to go and get a fur one to keep him warm.

An old sailor tells the legend of Rockabye Point, to which we flashback to Chilly Willy and a polar bear trying to steal fish from the sailor's fishing vessel.

Chilly tries making a fire to get warm but even the fire freezes. He then spots the general headquarter for Little America and inside he spots a warm furnace. Unfortunately Smedley the dog is guarding the headquarters.

Chilly Willy would rather snore in bed than pay his overdue "snowtel" bill. When the hotel manager, watchdog Smedley, attempts to awake and evict him, he hangs a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door and the landlord tiptoes away!

Chilly Willy is a salesman demonstrating his novelty noise makers, but he is also disrupting the peace at Balancing Rock Canyon, where the slightest noise can send all of the rocks falling to the ground. Smedley's job is to keep the rocks balanced.

At the South Pole, where the Armed Forces are camped for the winter, dog sentry Smedley is ordered to guard the food stores while his commanding officer's away. As Smedley paces his post of guard duty in front of "Food Stores," Chilly Willy peeks around the corner of the commissary, intent on finding some way to get at the cases of sardines stored inside.

A message from the park commissioner of the National Department of Parks in Washington, D.C. reads: "It has come to our attention that hibernating bears are being disturbed by park visitors." The bears' complaint goes from the commissioner to the second assistant to the guy on the soapbox. Accusing Chilly Willy of starting trouble in the park, the park ranger does all he can to keep the bears asleep.

A Swiss rescue dog is told to rescue someone or turn in his barrel. Unfortunately, he decides to try and rescue Chilly Willy.

The penguin at the Kalamazoo Zoo has escaped, so the board of directors sends Clyde on a trip to the South to catch another one. Unfortunately, the penguin he finds is Chilly Willy, who is reluctant to be caught.

In the Antarctic Ocean, the icebreaker U.S.S. Icepick is busy clearing the sea lanes. As is usual in the tradition of the sea, she carries a mascot, a large dog who lives in the lap of luxury, and whose every need, covering lodging, food and care, is of the best. The dog mascot's undisturbed existence is somewhat upset by the arrival of Chilly Willy, who goes aboard the ship when it gets stalled in the ice.

Smedley and Chilly are given their own TV show. The program's format is a simple one: Chilly throws pies into Smedley's face. But the TV viewers love it- and Smedley becomes famous.

Chilly Willy gets stranded on a island, home of Robinson Gruesome (Smedley) who plans to eat him for dinner.

A hungry Chilly Willy notices the good food the mounties get and enrolls for the job. Unfortunately, his enrollment photo is placed over a wanted poster for criminal Caribou Lou and officer Smedley presumes Chilly is Lou and gives chase.

Chilly visits an Aquarium where Smedley works and with the help of a dolphin gets to eat several fish.

Chilly mooches some fish from Wally Walrus' store, but Wally catches him. Then Chilly figures out how to fool Wally and buy out the store on credit.

Chilly Willy is cutting holes in a skating rink so he can catch fish and Smedley is told to stop him.

Chilly finds a trout hatchery run by Wally Walrus. Chilly wants some fish, but Wally has no use for a fish moochin' penguin.

Smedley is guarding his master's estate when he receives a package in the mail containing Chilly Willy. Chilly immediately sets his sights on devouring the master's stuffed barracuda which Smedley does everything in his power to prevent.

Chilly Willy is trying to fish in peace, but a bothersome pelican keeps trying to steal his fish. Chilly decides to play some tricks on the pelican.

Chilly and Smedley are stranded in the arctic with no food because the supply plane is late. Their hunger makes them delusional and they try to eat each other.

Chilly is trying to sleep, but the bright light from Smedley's lighthouse is keeping him awake. Chilly breaks the light bulbs and Smedley replaces them. Who will win?

Chilly tries to borrow some coal from the ski resort Smedley works at, but Smedley stops him. So, Chilly nabs some skis to use for firewood instead.

Smedley wants to move to a warmer climate, but Chilly does not want to lose his friend.

In order to afford money to eat Smedley's flapjacks, Chilly Willy tries various jobs that don't go well for him. When Chilly Willy discovers that Smedley has to make 200 flapjacks for a tough lumberjack, Chilly Willy ends up pillaging some of them getting Smedley into trouble until Chilly Willy drives the lumberjack away.

Chilly goes to a hotel where Smedley is the bellboy and interferes with Smedley's duties. A rude hunter comes to the hotel and Chilly stows away in his room, eating his food and setting the thermostat down to freezing levels.

Smedley is tired of being the one-man crew for Captain Blah of the Old Eye Sore. The captain tells him to go shanghai a crew. Chilly is watching Woody Woodpecker on TV when he is shanghai'd. Of course, Chilly doesn't make things easy for Smedley.

Chilly Willy sneaks into Smedley's lodge, which is closed for the winter, to eat some soup. Chilly keeps changing Smedley's radio to loud music, landing Smedley in trouble with a local hibernating bear.

Chilly and Maxie are playing football with fish. When Chilly goes to get more fish he sees an eskimo that is hunting for a polar bear. Chilly Willy warns Maxie and helps him escape from the eskimo.

Smedley is sent to capture an emperor penguin. He tries to capture Chilly, but Chilly gets some help from a real emperor penguin.

Chilly finds a tuna boat where Smedley happens to be working. Chilly eats the fish on the boat and the captain tells Smedley to get rid of Chilly. Chilly outsmarts Smedley and the captain several times.

Chilly and Smedley are cutting ice blocks to build an igloo when they discover a viking who has been frozen in the ice for 800 years. The viking is very hungry so he tries to eat Chilly, Smedley and Maxie. He doesn't stop until he gets frozen again.

At a weather station at the South Pole, the captain wants Smedley to fly the plane to get food supplies, but Chilly is cutting holes in the runway and fishing.

Chilly stows away in a woodchopper's travel bag while the woodchopper is on his way to Smedley's Rest Home. Smedley tries to get rid of Chilly while trying to make the woodchopper enjoy a quiet vacation. With Smedley unsuccessfully doing this, the woodchopper comes after him with his axe and is just about to chop Smedley, when Chilly comes to the rescue.

When Chilly Willy rescues drowning Maxie the Bear from freezing Arctic waters, he gains a grateful lifetime friend- and a long-term liability.

Chilly and Maxie are playing music. It is disturbing a man who then tries to catch the two to make money with them.

Chilly and Maxie the Polar Bear are sleeping in their igloo. A submarine breaks through the ice and into their house. Chilly's polar bear pal decides to have fun with the submarine's explorer.

An Air Force base sets up camp next to Chilly Willy's igloo, which keeps on melting every time that a jet takes off.

The Gooney Bird does not know how to land without crashing. Chilly Willy and Smedley try to teach him how to land with more dignity. A movie producer comes to film his goofy landings, but Chilly and Smedley teach him to land safely, so the producer leaves.

A man wants to build a oil well on top of Chilly's and Maxie's igloo, but the two put up a fight.
