Francie and Josie was a double act performed by Scottish comedians Jack Milroy as Francie and Rikki Fulton (of Scotch and Wry) as Josie. from 1958 - 1990's. In 1962 Scottish Television gave them their own show, The Adventures of Francie and Josie which also starred Clement Ashby, Glen Michael, and Ethel Scott (first wife of Rikki Fulton). The show became a hit, being broadcast by Anglia, Border Television, Grampian Television, Tyne Tees and UTV, and resulted in the pair appearing at the opening of many British Relay TV rental shops. The opening of their first shop, in Airdrie, caused such mayhem that crowds smashed the shop windows.

Francie and Josie hark back to their schooldays and have a high old time discussing old colleagues nicknames

Josie tries to grin and bear it as two gangsters, Glen Michael and Walter Jackson threaten him Francie came to see the birds...but it seems as if they're all looking at him

Two young Edinburgh actresses Elizabeth Carney and Rosemary Davy,appear as a couple of cute Danish au pair girls,Ingrid and Hedy,"A couple of stoaters" is how Francie and Josie describe them,when they meet up with the girls in a railway compartment travelling to Glasgow. Glen Michael and Clem ashby play the girls bearded Danish naval officer friends,Elrich and Ulrich,while ethel scott and Alice Dalehave their accustomed roles of Lizzie and Isa,the long suffering lassies so used to being "stood up" by Francie and Josie.

The duo are invited over to Belfast for the christening of Josies' sister's wean,and just happen to get on the wrong boat and end up in an Arab country

Armed with a thirty-bob camera,a keen eye,and a non-legit stance outside Glasgow's poshest hotel,Francie 'n' Josie go into the photographic business. But instead get involved in shooting of a different kind- when a beautiful princess asks them for help from assassins

Francie and Josie wind up as very reluctant recruits to the parachute regiment "Men of Action" that's what the army advert says. And Francie 'n' Josie believe it. Especially when it refers to paratroopers. They believe it,that is,until they find themselves about to jump!

A fiver from Luigi plus their "bru" (that's the labour exchange for non-Glaswegians) money,and a 4-1 shot on the dugs...all add up to a luxury weekend for Francie and Josie at a top notch hotel. Much to the consternation of manager,head waiter and guests alike

Francie and Josie "fell oot" when they fall for the same girl...a glamourous model called Felicity. Things get so bad they even decide that both should date her. Accepting,of course,that Felicity is willing.

Those likeable layabouts go into the entertainment business-guitars and all. Does'nt matter if they can't play them. They've got a gimmick-talent! Or so they think

After a plate of Porridge and two Forfar bridies Francie dreams that Francie and Josie that notorious Mexican bandit, Pancho (Speedy) Gonzales,has kidnapped Rose, the daughter of the Governor of Texas and our two heroes speed to her rescue.

Francie and Josie become stamp collectors with 2 stamps short on their National Insurance cards the two chums find they have to WORK they are hired as garden tool salesmen in a big department store, and their first customer is the store's manager's wife!

Auntie Jessie moves out. And Josie moves in. This, he claims, is an event to be celebrated...with a house warming party, but no hot peas and totty crisps for them. They mean to do it a la latest women's magazine.

It's the "Lonely Hearts Club" for Luigi. And those irrepressible "bird fanciers" Francie and Josie get him all spruced up to meet his blind date. But whenever they lend a hand,trouble inevitably follows

a clout on the head - and Josie is transported back to days of old when knights were bold. And when he, Sir Josie of Sauchiehall, and Sir Francie de Gorbals - two Glesca Gallants fought two "Sassenach Sody-heids" for the fair hands of two comely bits of stuff!

Unbelieveable. But it's true. Josie goes job hunting with Francie's Cockney cousin.They land up in a deserted Scottish island with the strange and sinister Dr Yes their employer. Dr Yes has perfected Robots to take over the work of human beings. What has he in store for them? Here's a recollection from forum member Jim Doyle...(and then finding the robots were going to be used to do everyone's work which alarmed them because as Francie said 'That means they would cut our buroo money'. They then sabotaged the robots circuits so that they spoke in broad Glasgow accents and were disobedient. When Dr Yes orders one of the female robots to kill Francie, she says 'Away ye go ya silly lookin' big scunner'.

There they try to raise the wind at a talent contest,and have trouble with their waspish land-lady who bans fish-suppers and feminine company in the digs

Francie and Josie find themselves in the middle of a TV quiz,strangely enough they win a prize-a trip to Paris under the bossy guidance of a Miss Georgina Cosy (played by Effie Morrison) Her ideas of Paris differs from that of the boys,and they soon make an escape from the tours of museums and art galleries. They end up in a Paris "dive"

Francie and Josie get locked in at Holyrood Palace Edinburgh by mistake

Luigi is in hospital,with an ingrowing toenail. The two faithfuls visit him-and soon the hospital is in an uproar. When they find themselves in a blood donors queue by mistake,a couple of white coats catch their eye and soon they become "doctors."

Francie and Josie visit a charm school to try and get some 'Poalish' but they end up in the luxury flat of a foreign spy
