Lomax: The Hound of Music
Lomax, the Hound of Music is a PBS Kids TV series that brings together puppets, humans, live music and animation to promote musical education for children ages 3–7. Created by Christopher Cerf, Norman Stiles and Louise Gikow, and produced by Sirius Thinking, Ltd., Eyevox, Inc., and Connecticut Public Television, Lomax first aired in December 2008, and immediately gained a reputation as a show that follows in the tradition of acclaimed educational children's TV series like Sesame Street, and Between the Lions. Lomax, the Hound of Music follows the adventures of Lomax, a good-natured, melody-obsessed puppet pooch, his feline sidekick Delta, and their human companion, Amy, on a tune-filled train ride crisscrossing the musical landscape of America. With the help - and full participation - of real kids on the train, on location, and the viewers at home, Lomax and his friends track down the wonderful songs that form the heart of our nation's diverse musical heritage.
Lomax, Delta, and Amy sing a song with a goat who plays the ukulele, they learn a dance called the Hula, and Lomax gets a flea bath.
Lomax, Delta, and Amy help a silly man stop singing a silly song by getting him to sing a song about a hen, and dance to music by Beethoven.
The Melody Hound Express travels out West, and Lomax tracks down a cowgirl singing to her horse.
Conductor Fred's Grandma visits the caboose and everyone sings everything they say.
Delta takes a walk outside and meows with a man and his mule, and sings "Kitty in the Straw!"
Amy, Delta and Lomax head to Arkansas in search of a fiddle player who knows the song, "Arkansas Traveler". Amy teaches Lomax the sound of the fiddle and then sends him out to look for the fiddle player when he hears the fiddle.
Lomax, Delta, and Amy sing with a turkey and a bear that comes over the mountain.
Lomax, Delta, and Amy dance with a horse, a mailman sings a song called "Crabfish," and Delta is sorry she tried to eat a crab.
