Barnaby Rudge is a British drama television series which originally aired on the BBC in thirteen episodes between 30 September and 23 December 1960. It was an adaptation of the novel Barnaby Rudge by Charles Dickens set against the backdrop of the 1780 Gordon Riots.

The locksmith Gabriel Varden visits the Maypole Inn, incurs his wife's displeasure, and we hear of a murder...

Simon Tappertit undertakes a midnight errand and Gabriel Varden learns more about the Stranger.

Mr Chester visits the Maypole Inn and Joe Willett plans to go courting.

Mr Chester and Mr Haredale plan to interfere in the course of true love and Mrs Rudge is threatened.

Mrs Varden is persuaded to visit the Maypole.

Simon Tappertit meddles in the affairs of other and Mrs Rudge comes to a decision.

Unbeknown to them, the lives of the Vardens and the Haredales, are put into danger by the arrival of Lord George Gordon at the Maypole.

Under the influence of Lord George Gordon , Mrs Varden has joined the Protestant Association. Having fled, hoping to escape the threats of the Stranger, Mrs Rudge and Barnaby are rediscovered.

Simon meets Dennis the hangman and Mr Haredale finds his life in danger when he meets an old school-fellow.

The petition is presented.

The lives of Dolly and Emma are in jeopardy as misadventure befalls The Maypole and The Warren.

The rioters capture Gabriel Varden and once again Barnaby meets the robber of the Chigwell Road.

Barnaby, Dennis and Hugh find themselves in jail; Gabriel Varden throws a party and many important matters are resolved.
