Atlantis
Atlantis is a 2011 BBC docudrama which depicts a re-enactment of the events surrounding the volcanic eruption which destroyed the island of Thera, an incident believed to have inspired the legend of Atlantis. The hour-long programme is based on the work of leading scientists, archaeologists and historians, and featured Stephanie Leonidas and Reece Ritchie as members of the Bronze age civilisation. The film was narrated by Tom Conti, and made its debut on BBC One on Sunday 8 May 2011.
In 1620 BC a gigantic volcano in the Aegean Sea stirred from it's 19,000-year sleep. The eruption ending up destroying the island of Thera producing huge tsunamis that flooded the island of Crete.
Despite their newfound fame after slaying the Minotaur, the boys are still penniless and hungry. When an old man asks them to find his missing daughter, things seem on the up, but it soon becomes clear that their task will not be an easy one; she has been taken by the Maenads, fanatical worshippers of the god Dionysus. With the hopes and life of the old man fading, it is a race against time that Jason cannot turn his back on. But just when their perilous task seems at an end, he comes face-to-face with a stranger named Medusa.

The volcano had been inactive for 19,000 years and then erupted, tearing apart the island of Thera (known today as Santorini) and producing tsunamis that flooded the nearby island of Crete, the centre of Europe's first great civilisation – the Minoans. The drama Atlantis: End of a World, Birth of a Legend tells the story of the Minoans.
Atlantis: The Evidence, the Timewatch special features historian Bettany Hughes who will trace the origins of the Atlantis myth and present evidence that the Thera eruption inspired Plato's account of Atlantis.
